There is always excitement when you move into a new home, but the summer months can bring particularly exciting opportunities. There are fewer better places to spend your summer than somewhere like Sarasota, Florida, so if you’ve bought a new home at Vistera of Venice, you’re in for a great time!

There are plenty of activities to try during summer as you settle into a new home. Whether you’re alone or with your partner or family, here are some of our top suggestions to try when you move into a new home.

1. Host an Outdoor Social Event

The sun is shining, and it’s a great time of year to bring your friends and family together. You can do this by hosting an outdoor party or social gathering at your new home in Sarasota, utilizing any outdoor space and features you have.

Grill some food over a barbecue or pour some drinks and start a fire at the evening draws in. Play games together or host a quiz.

Outside of your new home, consider exploring the local area to find some good picnic spots. Ask friends to meet you there and spend a day together in the sunshine.

2. Start a New Project

Moving into a new home is an opportunity for a fresh start, and you get to decide whether you want to start a new project this summer. This could be a project on your new home or something entirely different, like painting or renovating an old car.

If you need new furniture for your home, consider taking this on as a project. Upcycle second-hand furniture or see whether you have anything that needs a bit of work. If you’re a creative type, you may even want to create a piece of wall art for your new home!

3. Join Summer Festivals and Markets

When you move to your new home, look around to see whether there are festivals and markets during the summer. This is a great way to get to know the area better, and you can spend valuable time outdoors enjoying the sun.

Many people within your new community may be attending these events in the summer, so it will also give you a chance to meet some of your neighbors. If you get a chance to connect with your neighbors straight away after moving in, ask them about local events and which activities they recommend.

4. Camping

This is an activity that the whole family can get involved in, and you don’t need to travel very far to do it, either. When the weather is warm, sleeping outside can be a fantastic experience, and Florida is a great place to do this.

You can pack your tents and drive somewhere out of town to find a quiet camping spot by the beach or near a nature park. But you might also want to consider camping in your own backyard. This can be a fun activity for children who want to do something different during the summer but are constrained by their parents’ work schedules or other commitments.
