  • Location: It lies about 26 miles (42 kilometers) southwest of Mount Logan, the highest peak in Canada.

  • European explorers first sighted the mountain in 1741 during Vitus Bering’s expedition. While some credit Bering with naming it, others believe it remained unnamed until later mapmakers associated it with Cape Saint Elias.
