Umrah is one of the sacred worships in Islam, and it is performed by visiting the Holy City of Mecca. There are various restrictions and prohibitions during the Ihram. Ihram is one of the essential rituals of Umrah. Many Muslims purchase the Ihram after booking the Cheap Umrah Packages from the local Market. If they do not want to buy the Ihram from the Market in their country, they can buy from Jeddah city or Mecca. There is a significant Market for the Ihram from where a person can get the Ihram. This article will let you know about the restrictions or not allowed acts during the Umrah. These are the same prohibitions that apply to the hajj pilgrimage as well. There is a slighter difference between the hajj and Umrah that Umrah is a Sunnah of the Holy Prophet ﷺ. At the same time, Hajj is an Obligatory act that is Fard for every Muslim who is financially and medically fit.
Restrictions of Ihram:
When a pilgrim wears the Ihram, he is in the state of Umrah until he removes the Ihram. Ihram is two sheets of cloth that are unstitched. We are here to explain to you the restrictions that are prohibited in the state of Ihram. Because this knowledge is essential for the Umrah Pilgrims who have made intentions for the Umrah. When a pilgrim wears the Ihram from the Meeqat (the Saudi Government has decided on the different Meeqat points for the Hajj and Umrah Pilgrims), his Umrah has been started. Please note that these prohibitions are for the hajj pilgrims as well. Hajj is an obligatory pilgrimage that can be performed by booking the Hajj Packages from your home country or through online websites. Read the article till the end to know about the restricted acts during the Umrah.
Shaving hairs on the head:
Shaving the head or cutting the hairs of the head is prohibited in the state of Umrah. Nowadays, most people’s hair is falling out. We cannot stop them from the fallout. But intentionally, we cannot cut the hairs through scissors, razors, or other equipment. Shaving of the head can be done after the Umrah and Hajj, one of the Umrah rituals, which is named Halq o Taqseer. Typically, Halq is done by the Man while Women trim their hair off the head by at least an inch.
Applying perfume:
Applying Perfume during the Umrah or in the state of Ihram is haram for the pilgrims. It is a a common mistake made by the Muhrim during the Umrah pilgrimage that most people touch the Kiswah. Kiswah is perfumed daily, and when a pilgrim feels the Kiswah, he gets perfumed, so, in that sense, it is prohibited to touch the Kiswah of Kaabah as well. During the Hajj, it isn’t easy to connect the Kiswah. For the Hajj Pilgrimage, Islamic Travel offers Hajj Packages by which a pilgrim can perform the hajj efficiently. Our Hajj Packages include everything necessary during the Hajj pilgrimage.
Sexual Intercourse:
Sexual Intercourse is halal between the Wife and Husband, but when they are in the state of Ihram, it is strictly prohibited. You do not even see your wife with that intention of sexual desire. Both men and women must restrict themselves from sexual Intercourse during the Hajj and Umrah pilgrimages. Apart from the Hajj and Umrah Pilgrimage, it is halal and a good act in Islam. During the nights of Ramadan, the rewards of sexual Intercourse are doubled as other preferred acts are rewarded. So, if you are in the state of Ihram, avoid the sexual Intercourse and touch your wife with the intention of sexual desire.
Touching one’s wife with desire:
It is also haram for men to touch one’s wife with the intention of sexual desires. It will be considered in the act of Zina (Zina is a word in Arabic that means immorality). Zina is one of the greater sins in Islam. You can even see the other’s wife, which is haram for you with Zina’s intention. According to Islam, the punishment of Zina for the unmarried man is stoned to death. You can imagine how big a sin Zina is in Islam.
Wearing sewn garments by men:
Men can only wear the Ihram during the Umrah. Ihram comprises two unstitched cloth sheets. One sheet is for the upper body, and the second is for the body below the navel. One sheet is called Izar, and the second sheet of the Ihram is called Rida. Wearing sewn clothes is strictly prohibited in Islam. While women can wear the stitched suites according to the Shariah of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. Ihram of white, unstitched, and plain color used the moral of Unity to the Muslim Ummah.
Wearing Niqab by women:
A niqab is a piece of Cloth hung by a woman in front of her face. However, during the Umrah, it is a prohibited act to wear the Niqab during the Umrah pilgrimage. Instead of Niqab, a Woman has to wear a veil on her face with a cloth to hide their hair. I am quoting the hadith from the Muwattah Imam Malik, Kiap al-Hajj; the hadith number is 724, in which it is written that a woman in the state of Ihram should wear neither a veil nor gloves.
Final Thoughts:
I want to conclude here that shaving the head during the Umrah Pilgrimage, Applying Perfume, having Sexual Intercourse, touching someone’s wife with unethical desire, wearing sewn clothes by men, and wearing the Niqab is haram during the Umrah Pilgrimage. These acts are haram in the state of Haram. Although Hajj and Umrah have similar rituals, both are performed in the state of Ihram. These acts are also prohibited in the state of Ihram. Hajj is performed by booking the hajj packages, and Umrah is done after booking the Umrah packages. Islamic Travel is one of the best Umrah agencies for the Hajj and Umrah Packages.
